Recreation Playbook

We are looking to shape the way that we play in Newmarket. Recreation and Culture is developing a Playbook that will guide the future of play and the department in our community.

The Playbook will identify what we are doing well, what we need to improve on and what we can do to make Newmarket even better.

Tell us what you think, and be part of this process and the future of play.

Please complete our short survey.

 Sk8 Park Fee Changes:

Sk8 Park fees are now charged "per session," and are not do be considered "Day Passes." This change came into effect on January 1, 2015.

As well, we have introduced a new discounted multi-pass fee system for the Sk8 Park.

The new reduced fee system will provide greater financial access to the Sk8 Park for those who want to come regularly.

The Town of Newmarket and Bully Free Community Alliance

is excited to announce the Ahead of the Game youth mentor program coming to the

Newmarket Recreation Youth Centre & Sk8 Park this January.

Welcome to the Recreation Youth Centre. Our objective is to provide a relaxed atmosphere for young people to hang out and have fun with friends.

The RYC strives to offer safe recreational opportunities for patrons of all ages. Children who are left unattended will only be supervised within the scope of our recreational programs. We strongly encourage parents with children 9 years of age or younger to remain on the premises to ensure appropriate supervision is provided for the duration of their stay. Parents of children aged 10 - 12 are invited to stay as well, but parents of youth aged 13+ are encouraged to leave the building so we may be able to provide a more relaxed atmosphere suitable for their enjoyment.

Parents who participate with their child or make use of RYC equipment are required to purchase a wristband from the kiosk for $1, which will help offset the additional wear on our program supplies and provide revenue for its replacement.

The RYC features a large indoor Sk8Park with 10,000 square feet of ledges, stairs, rails, gaps, boxes, banks, custom ramps, a wall ride with five feet of vert and a 32 foot wide 4' mini ramp with two 5' extensions and a 6' roll in that leads to an 11 foot high bank. The park provides for a great experience. No matter what your skate ability - beginner to advanced.

As well the Recreation Youth Centre has a full gymnasium, games area (pool table, tabletop shuffleboard, air hockey tables, foosball, table tennis, large screen TV, Wii, and assorted board games),

Bicycles, unicycles, longboards, and RipStiks are not permitted in the park.
