March Breaking-it in Newmarket!

NEWMARKET, Ontario, March 12, 2008– March Break madness is just around the corner. The Town of Newmarket is offering a number of family-friendly events to choose from:

March Break Camp – This fun filled winter day camp, running from March 16 to 20 (9 a.m. to 4 p.m.) will offer exciting games, activities, crafts, and more. Sign-up for the week ($130 for residents and $160 for non-residents) or join the group on any day ($32 per day for residents and $37 per day for non-residents). Extended care is available at no extra cost from 7:30 to 9 a.m. and 4 to 6 p.m. See flyer below for a list of daily activities, locations and registration information.

St.Patrick’s Day event – On March 17, bring your family to the Magna Centre (800 Mulock Dr.) from 9 a.m. to noon and enjoy live entertainment, crafts, games and activities. Don’t forget to wear green to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day! Admission is $3 per child. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. For more information please call 905-895-5193, ext. 2607.

March Break Mayhem – From March 17 to 20 (10 a.m. to 3 p.m.) the Elman W. Campbell Museum presents March Break Mayhem. Enjoy stilt walking, hula hoops, ring toss, marbles, crafts and more. Activities will take place on March 17 and 18 at Old Town Hall (460 Botsford Street) and March 19 and 20 at the Elman Campbell Museum (134 Main Street South). Stay and play all day for $6 per person. Children under 12 must be accompanied by a caregiver 18 years of age or over. Parents please note: this is not a day camp and there are no lunchroom facilities. Youth Centre Daily Activities – Visit the Newmarket Youth Centre and Kinsmen Sk8Park (56 Charles Street) from March 16 to 20 for daily activities from 1 to 3 p.m. There is a $2 drop-in fee for all activities.

Monday, March 16 – T-shirt design and Volleyball Challenge
Tuesday, March 17 – Eat Off of all Eat Off’s
Wednesday, March 18 - Basketball Shoot Out
Thursday, March 19 – Floor Hockey Tournament
Friday, March 20 – Glow in the Dark Dodgeball

Nintendo Wii Rock Band Tournament – On March 18 and 19, visit the Newmarket Theatre (505 Pickering Cres.) from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., to see the battle of the rock bands. The cost is $2 per participant and due upon arrival. Pre-registration forms are required (forms are available at Town facilities). The schedule is subject to change based on registration. Public swimming and skating – Public swimming and skating will be available from March 16 - 22 at the Magna Centre (800 Mulock Drive) and the Ray Twinney Complex (100 Eagle Street West). Please see the attached flyer for specific dates and times.
