Updated February 22, 2021
On Friday, February 19, 2021 the Province of Ontario announced that York Region will move to the Red-Control zone of the Provincial Reopening Framework on Monday, February 22. York Region will no longer be subject to the stay-at-home order, however Public Health has strongly advised people to continue to stay at home and avoid social gatherings to help limit the spread of COVID-19.
The Town of Newmarket is happy to move forward with a reopening plan and begin to offer increased services, amenities and programs to the community. Recreation facilities and in-person drop in programming will resume operation in accordance with all health and safety regulations as outlined by the Province and York Region Health. This announcement does not impact or cancel any VIRTUAL programs currently running.
Newmarket trails, parks and playgrounds will remain open and residents are encouraged to use them while following all health and safety measures as outlined by the province.
The Municipal Offices (395 Mulock Drive), Robert N. Shelton Operation Centre (1275 Maple Hill Court) and Central York Fire Services (CYFS) remain closed to the public for in-person services. We continue to offer alternative ways to serve the community.

Please continue to check back for the most up to date information on 2021 Summer Camp and Registered programming.
Summer Camps 2020
The Town's existing summer camp program is designed and structured in a way that cannot be delivered in line with current Provincial requirements for social distancing and gatherings. Based on this reality, the Town must cancel all camps and refund all fees paid. The Town is looking into the potential for a modified camp program which may be offered only if the Town is able to deliver it in a meaningful and safe manner.
The Town will continue to work with the Ontario Camping Association and Parks & Recreation Ontario to gain insight into industry best practices and procedures being developed across Ontario.
Everyone registered for a Town of Newmarket Summer Camp will receive a full refund. Registrants will receive an initial, automatic credit to their account. Residents are asked for their patience at this time as staff work quickly to process refunds, which may take up to eight weeks to complete. For those who paid by credit card, refunds will be processed to the card. A cheque will be issued to those who paid with cash or debit.
Registered Summer Programs 2020
All registered programs have also been cancelled. In line with summer camps, it is not possible for the Town to safely offer its planned registered programs, including swimming lessons, fitness and cultural programs.
We look forward to being able to provide camps and programs again. Until then, please be safe, practice social distancing and continue to be vigilant in your efforts to help stop the spread of Covid-19.
