Fall 2023 - NGA "Letting Go" Exhibition

Letting Go Premise Graphic.png

October 30, 2023 to January 12, 2024

This special juried exhibition of artwork by members of the Newmarket Group of Artists (NGA) responded to the theme of Letting Go. On view were artworks that explored the changes and opportunities that life presented. With every opportunity comes a decision, and sometimes that means a dream, or another path must be turned away from. In a painting, for example, each new brushstroke buries whatever lay beneath it, changing the work forever.

"When I let go of what I am, I become what I might be." (Lao Tzu)

395 Permanent Collection

Every year since 1999, the Town of Newmarket has been building its permanent art collection that celebrates our rich local history and heritage through purchasing one artwork from the annual Newmarket Heritage Juried Art Contest. Artists from across Ontario are invited to submit works that reflect on Newmarket, including but not limited to the Municipality's culture, society, economy, history, significant events, architecture or natural environment from the past or at present.

Our permanent art collection serves to capture some of the moments, monuments, and reflections of what makes Newmarket an extraordinary place to work, play and live.

395 Community Gallery
