NGA "Summer Love" Exhibition - Summer 2023

July 24 to October 20, 2023

Gallery Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

This special juried exhibition of artwork by members of the Newmarket Group of Artists (NGA) responds to the theme of Summer Love. The artists have responded to the exhibition's theme through a variety of interpretations and media.

"A life without love is like a year without summer." (Jenna Evans Welch)

On view are artworks that explore the meaning of love and the lightness and playfulness that is often associated with summer.

The NGA is a non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion, recognition, and celebration of the visual arts in Newmarket. Their main objective is to provide an umbrella organization for visual artists in Newmarket, giving them a voice within the community and fostering a sense of community within the group.

Artwork is available for purchase. All inquiries about the purchase of the artwork can be directed to Sarah Ernst, Supervisor, Culture Services, sernst@newmarket.ca.

395 Permanent Collection

Every year since 1999, the Town of Newmarket has been building its permanent art collection that celebrates our rich local history and heritage through purchasing one artwork from the annual Newmarket Heritage Juried Art Contest. Artists from across Ontario are invited to submit works that reflect on Newmarket, including but not limited to the Municipality's culture, society, economy, history, significant events, architecture or natural environment from the past or at present.

Our permanent art collection serves to capture some of the moments, monuments, and reflections of what makes Newmarket an extraordinary place to work, play and live.

395 Community Gallery
